Electric cars do not require traditional oil changes because they do not have internal combustion engines (ICE) that rely on oil for lubrication. Unlike gasoline or diesel-powered vehicles, which use engine oil to reduce friction between moving parts, electric vehicles (EVs) operate with electric motors that do not need oil. However, EVs still require regular maintenance for other fluids flow, such as coolant for battery temperature management, brake fluid, and transmission fluid in some models. While oil changes are unnecessary, routine inspections and software updates help ensure an EV runs efficiently for years.
