1. Preparation

The first thing to do is to turn off the water by closing the valve on the water inlet pipes. Remember to open the mixer tap to drain all the water and purge the pipes.

We also recommend that you protect the floor of your water room by securing a tarpaulin.

Finally, cut the joints around the tub with a craft knife to detach it from the walls and the apron.

1. Remove the apron from the bathtub

For an acrylic apron: just unscrew the walls to gently remove them.

For a wooden deck covered with tiles: first unscrew the drain grid to remove the tub to reach the screws holding the formwork to the battens.

For a bathtub with a plaster tile apron, the only solution is to break it with a sledgehammer. Remember to clear the ground of rubble as you go.

1. Remove the tub

First remove the siphon screwed onto the drain plug, then unscrew the cold and hot water inlet hoses with an adjustable wrench and water pump pliers. To avoid any risk of leaks, close them securely with a plug.

If you want to keep the taps, carefully unscrew the thermostatic mixer.

It is now possible to take the tub out of your bathroom.

Finally, remove the siphon connected to the wastewater evacuation pipe. While waiting for your new installation, we advise you to seal it with a tape.

1. Work before installing your new equipment

Before installing your new sanitary ware, it is sometimes necessary to do some tiling work so that the floor of your bathroom is perfectly flat and even, especially if the floor was not covered with tiles under the bathtub. Likewise, think about wall covering, it is also often useful to tile the wall that was just behind the tub.



Depending on your new project, you may also need to do plumbing work to offset the water inlet and outlet pipes. Delicate work that often requires the intervention of a plumbing professional.
